For 10 years our Little Heroes programme has been rebuilding shattered childhoods and forging better futures for youngsters in Syria. Together we can make a difference, one child, one future at a time.
A child like 12-year-old Samer.
‘Hi.
After ISIS came to my town we fled to the village of Al Yazdeh, which my father’s relatives said was safe.
‘When Awareness Foundation came, I took part in the Little Heroes’ camp, and I loved it very much.
‘After everything that had happened, it taught me how to remove bad things from my heart. It’s like a land where I learned how to plant good things, like working with others, love, peace and respect.
‘I would love Awareness Foundation to come back and do these camps again because we really benefit from them and we can spend a great time there.’
Suffering continues in Syria, and innocent children are still bearing the brunt.
Many, many thousands have been forced from their homes, separated from friends and family, are victims of continued exploitation, lack even the basics, and have seen things that no child should ever see. According to the UN, more than 7,000 schools have been destroyed or damaged, and in 2024 there were 1,301 grave violations against children.*
*As defined by the UN, grave violations against children are: killing and maiming, sexual violence, denial of humanitarian access, abduction, attacks on schools and hospitals, and recruitment and use.
Despite the challenges, positive change is possible and together we can transform young lives. On the 10th anniversary of Little Heroes, join us in bringing new programmes to the children of Latakia and Homs.
We aim to help up to 400 more children aged 6-12 from all cultures, rebuild their childhood, build confidence, and rediscover joy through a range of therapeutic teaching, play, art, music, and sport.
And your contribution of whatever size can help deliver the essentials.
